A well-known law firm was considering the opportunity to acquire one of its main competitors. Latin Brains was asked to carry out a competitor benchmarking exercise of the targeted law firms in order to assist this strategic decision.
Action taken
Analysts at Latin Brains chose to benchmark the competitors based on geography, size, reputation, practice areas and innovation (including pricing approach-such as alternative fee structures).
Firstly, we produced short company profiles on each targeted competitor, comparing them to our client based on footprint and capabilities. Secondly, we created a report comparing the competitors based on the aforementioned benchmarks. A wide range of sources was used, compiling intelligence to create a coherent and comprehensive picture of which law firms were most fitting for our client’s needs and aims.
Result
The client was provided with accurate research material for use by its senior partners, detailing where synergies existed for each target, which could be harnessed by the client. This enabled our client to make a highly informed strategic decision, backed by competitive intelligence provided by the Latin Brains team.
